E Myth Revisited Book – Pre-Loved
By Michael Gerber
The Fatal Assumption is: if you understand the technical work of a business, you understand a business that does that technical work.”
Michael E. Gerber provides an insight on small businesses that that is not normally talked about. Within most business owners there is The Entrepreneur, The Manager and The Technician. In the book, he shows how the business is normally created by the Entrepreneur but along the way the Manager has do his part in the business as well as the Technician.
The Entrepreneur is the opportunity guy, the guy that can sell ice to an Eskimo. The Manager is the intensely focused, very structured guy who keeps things planned out and organized. Then you have the Technician. The Technician does what he does best, he creates things. He works in the business producing the products the company sells.
Unfortunately for the technician, often he is unaware there are more skills he needs. He needs business skills as well as managerial skills to have a successful business.
Michael E. Gerber illustrates how balancing these three mind sets is not something that just happens, but it is something that must be done. There must be an awareness and then intentionality applied to the structuring of these systems to be successful.
Michael E. Gerber has a writing style which is extremely easy to read. When I first read this book, I could not get enough of it. It was captivating. Coming from a guy who was a technician for a long time, this book was life altering for me.
