G’day, my name is Jo Thompson and I have created a beautiful little shop in Sydney, Australia, to do just that. Awakening Lotus was founded in 2002 and its mission is to support everyone to find their own truth, awaken their own sense of spirit and ignite a passion for their own adventure.

The Lotus is a symbol of spirituality, purity, enlightenment, and the potential to rise out of the murky depths to become something of great beauty. So it doesn’t matter what the challenges are or how murky your life is, I believe that by empowering you, you will find what you need to blossom again.

I believe that every action, thought and deed serves us better if it is motivated by Love. I know that Love is the answer to everything. And that is exactly what Awakening Lotus uses to care for everyone who seeks something better. Focusing on ourselves and others with Love, achieves more kindness, happiness and peace. By understanding what moves us and how we interact with the world we are able to make different choices, choices that serve us better, empower us and lead using towards love.

I began my journey by wanting to know why seemingly bad things happen to people. I didn’t believe that life was a lottery where God handed out punishment randomly to test us. When I was unable to find solace in religion, I started exploring alternate modalities. I soon discovered that everyone’s path is different but it is linked by the common thread of learning, knowledge, understanding and experience. We cannot judge anyone’s life or the choices someone makes as we do not know what led that person to the path that they are on.

Awakening Lotus started its humble beginnings as a home business. I made the choice to leave full time employment to spend time with my ailing Mother as it was a priority to cherish the last moments of a relationship that spanned my whole life. It was during this time that I realized how precious life is and how magical Spirit can be.

For the past 5 years Awakening Lotus has empowered others at a variety of markets and Psychic Fairs. When a major market became available for me to trade, I opened up at Paddy’s Markets, Chinatown, Sydney, trading 5 days a week (Wednesday-Sunday), in the middle of the fruit and vegetables and continuing my passion of empowerment and love.
